After a three year hiatus, Wichita Public Library’s Local Author Day is back! August 20th will be a day to celebrate the writing talent in our community, which includes YOU! You are receiving this email because you participated with us last time or in the three years since you’ve reached out to us about your publication. If you’d like to participate with us this year, registration is now open! Sign-ups will be limited to the first 100 authors, and I expect us to fill up.
We would love you to join us for this great opportunity to share your work with Wichita’s community of readers! The day will run very much like last time. There will be a panel discussion in the morning at 10:30 AM. Local authors Dana McCall, Grant Snider, and XX will talk about their respective journeys writing, publishing, and marketing themselves in the hopes to inspire and inform. Then the expo starts at 2:00 PM. Doors will open at 1:00 PM so you can set up your space. We will provide you with half a table (please be mindful of your neighbors when planning your space), chairs, a table covering, and a few feet of space to display your books. You are welcome to sell books at the event, but you will be responsible for all things pertaining to money handling. This year we will have space in the Conference Center as well as our Children’s galleries so we can host more authors. Based on feedback from our last event, we are will also try to group you by genre and/or audience as much as possible.
This event is free and open to the public. It’s also free for you to showcase your books, though we ask that you help us get the word out about the event. There will not be postcards as in previoius years, but we plan to share a digital media packet with you! Please share our Facebook author panel event, Facebook expo event, Instagram about it, and/or tweet it out!
