Prose in the Park
KWA’s next meeting falls on July 4th. We fully understand this means many of you won’t be able to attend due to spending time with family and friends while celebrating Independence Day. KWA will still be holding a meeting for those who do wish to attend. For those in attendance, we’ll be having some fun with creative writing exercises and a potluck dinner. Please bring something to write on and write with.
Since the library will be closed due to the holiday KWA’s meeting will be a relaxing day at the Sedgwick County Park. KWA will provide hotdogs to be grilled at the park for the potluck dinner. Attendees are encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert as well as their own drinks. Please do not feel you cannot attend if you can’t bring a dish. Everyone is welcome. I will provide mustard, ketchup, and relish for the hotdogs as well as plates, napkins, and plastic utensils.
As previously stated, the next meeting will be held on July 4th, two weeks from yesterday. However, it will NOT be held at the library due to the holiday. It will be held at Sedgwick County Park at an accessible site which I will secure that morning.
Directions:
For those entering off of 21st St. North – enter the park on North Shore Road. Then simply follow the road into the park and take the second left. I will be in the first picnic site on the left.
For those entering off of 13th St. – enter the park on North Shore Blvd. Go left at the entrance. Then follow the road through the park and take the first right turn. (do not turn right at the entrance) Again, I will be in the first picnic site on the left.
This site does have accessible parking spots, a sidewalk leading to the picnic tables, and a restroom straight across from it. Those wishing to are encouraged to bring their own chair if something more comfortable than a picnic table bench is desired. (don’t forget your writing utensils!)
The official meeting is from 1:30 to 4, however, I will need to be there at 6am to secure the site so showing up early is certainly an option if you just want to hang out in the park and visit. (I can’t guarantee the quality of conversation.)
The meeting will likely wrap up around 3:30 as I have been invited to go to Centralia Lake for the weekend where I’ll camp out and show off while adaptive skiing.
Once more, the meeting will be held two weeks from yesterday on Saturday, July 4th, at Sedgwick County Park.
