Sunday, May 5th, 2-4 pm
Come celebrate emerging writers as they read fresh work for a live audience. Writers will be reading from a variety of genres, including poetry, fiction, screenplays, and memoirs. Some participants were part of the First Thursdays Community Writing Workshop at the Advanced Learning Library. There will be time for questions, discussion, and networking with other writers.

New Writers Wanted!
Are you an emerging writer? We want to celebrate you! Sign up to read your work for a live audience. Space is limited to the first 20 sign-ups, and your stage time will be limited to 6 minutes maximum. Work should be original and family-appropriate content, but otherwise – anything goes! You will upload a copy of the work you wish to read when you sign up. We will have a dress rehearsal on May 2 to give you a chance to practice on the microphone.
What is an emerging writer? You might have one or two self-published books, but are still somewhat unknown in the literary world.

What We’re About
Shut Up & Write! is a global community that empowers writers to overcome procrastination, silence their inner critic, and make consistent progress on their projects. Our events provide a structured and focused environment where writers can come together, set aside distractions, and achieve their writing goals.
What to Expect
Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, a period of focused writing, and a final check-in to share our progress. Once you arrive, our host will lead introductions, and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time. Afterward, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.
