NaNoWriMo Stars in our Midst

Several of our members are putting up rock-star numbers in the annual writing marathon known as National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo to its fans). The goal is to write 50,000 words of fiction before the clock strikes December.

NaNoWriMoIt’s more than a random number and a personal goal. NaNoWriMo is a community event. You can keep a running log of your progress at www.nanowrimo.org, chat with other writers for support, and generally encourage one another to keep the word count coming. Some might view is as a stunt, others as a lark. But for the vast majority, it works because it sets up a challenge and a deadline that, frankly, most of us need to stay on task.

If you’re participating in this year’s NaNo, post your progress here too so we can cheer you on! Just use the comment section below.

  1. My word count so far is 34,114. I’m getting there, but I just got two more classes added on and I have three weeks to complete them in which includes 4 papers and a power point presentation. :( I’ve surprised myself before, so who knows? I may just do it again!

  2. I am just over 17,000 words in 6 days on my YA novel.

    Just hit 40,009! Woot!

  5. Darin Elliott says:

50,860 words. Good thing too because my plot has given me everything its got. As time goes on through the month, I’ll go back through to check out where it needs things added and cleaned up so that should grow a little before the final checkout.

  6. 22,229. Just started 11-6-11 on account of being on vacation. I had planned for this, however, by carefully outlining and setting a pace for myself for completion.
BUT, Darrin Elliott, you beast, WAY TO GO!

  7. 50, 927 now! Well, as of yesterday! :D Did it again!

  8. 28,973
